Digital Twins/Virtual Selves, Identity, Security and Death – A Thought Paper
By Guy Huntington | Huntington Ventures Ltd. | 🗓 February 14, 2020 / Updated Sept 28, 2021 ⏱ 10 minutes to read
This paper uses practical examples of Jane Doe entering a school system and progressing through it. The article contains discussion of Jane Doe’s legal identities, those of her parents, teachers and fellow students. It shows how Jane Doe requires a legal anonymous identity to function in AI/AR/VR environments. If her full legal identity is required, express parental/legal guardian consent is required. Before Jane Doe even steps into the school, it proposes doing an in-depth assessment of her. This includes personality, aptitudes, motor, hearing, visual skills, ability to work with others, etc.Based on this, a preliminary digital learning twin for Jane is created, recommending initial learning strategies for her.
See page 19, where there is a listing of 32 papers written by the autho, including two proposals.

#IOTSWC23 Digital Twins and IoT Integrating the Physical and Virtual Worlds
By Dr. Michael Grieves | Digital Twin Institute | Febuary 3rd, 2023
The value of Digital Twins can only be realized if Digital Twins and their virtual environment contain the same data and resulting information as their corresponding Physical Twins and real-world environment. This means that the need for more extensive, faster, and richer sensing of the physical world will dramatically increase as valuable use cases proliferate. In addition, we will evolve from working in physical or virtual environments to integrating and working simultaneously in both environments. Dr. Grieves discusses his views on the opportunities and issues of this evolution.

DTC - Digital Twin Consortium (DTC) drives the awareness, adoption, interoperability, and development of digital twin technology. Through a collaborative partnership with industry, academia, and government expertise, the Consortium is dedicated to the overall development of digital twins. We accelerate the market by propelling innovation and guiding outcomes for technology end-users.The members are committed to using digital twins throughout their global operations and supply chains. The consortium is open to any business, organization, or entity with an interest in digital twins. Digital Twin Consortium is part of the Object Management Group®.
DTP - Digital Twin Research Program develops methods to make accurate digital twins of these types of systems: virtual software versions that allow you to run simulations to predict, for example, how changes in the design affect performance, how control can be improved, or which part on which needs maintenance at the moment. Digital twins are still mostly based on static theoretical models that assume normal behavior. By linking these models to measurement data that indicate how the system actually functions and combining this data with artificial intelligence, the researchers make digital copies that continuously improve and adapt themselves. The research focuses on a number of exemplary systems provided by the Dutch high-tech companies involved in the program..
Cesium - is a Platform for 3D Geospatial. It is an open platform for software applications designed to unleash the power of 3D data. The open ecosystem contains open standards, open APIs, and open source software.
OGC - Open Geoespatial Consortium (OGC)GC is the one place for technology, innovation, standards, community, and more. We are a neutral playing field for innovation that eliminates friction across traditionally competitive organizations. Meet your future teammates, be a leader, or become an industry partner. OGC’s member-driven consensus process creates royalty free, publicly available, open geospatial standards. Existing at the cutting edge, OGC actively analyzes and anticipates emerging trends, and runs an agile Research and Development (R&D) lab – the OGC Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program – that builds and tests innovative prototype solutions to members’ use cases.
AOUSD - The Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD) is an open, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the interoperability of 3D content through OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description). Standardizing the 3D ecosystem will enable developers and content creators to describe, compose, and simulate large-scale 3D projects and build an ever-widening range of 3D-enabled products and services. Part of the Joint Development Foundation, the Alliance brings together a diverse and inclusive community of participants to provide an open forum for collaborative development and discussion around OpenUSD. The AOUSD mission is to foster the standardization, development, evolution, and growth of OpenUSD.
DigiTwin - The overall aim of this project is to create robustly-validated digital twins for dynamics applications. This is urgently needed to overcome limitations in current industrial practice that increasingly rely on large computer-based models to make critical design and operational decisions for systems such as wind farms, nuclear power stations and aircraft. The specific research objectives of the project are:
(1) Design: specifically to create new design methodologies that can be applied to dynamic systems that lead to significant improvements in confidence based on digital twin concepts
(2) Uncertainty management: to fully integrate quantification, propagation and management of uncertainty into the digital twin framework to radically improve the levels of trust available
(3) Validation: to ensure that the digital twin framework can be robustly verified and validated.
interTwin - interTwin aims at designing and building a prototype of an interdisciplinary Digital Twin Engine (DTE), based on a co-designed Blueprint Architecture. interTwin co-designs and implements the prototype of an interdisciplinary Digital Twin Engine (DTE) – an open source platform based on open standards that offers the capability to integrate with application-specific Digital Twins (DTs). Its functional specifications and implementation are based on a co-designed interoperability framework and conceptual model of a DT for research – the DTE blueprint architecture. The ambition of interTwin is to create consensus on a common approach to the implementation of DTs that is applicable across the whole spectrum of scientific disciplines that will facilitate developments and interoperability across different DTs.
